Tutankhamun’s tomb: which Luxor tour includes admission?

Updated September 12, 2026 · 5 min read

Archaeological stop on a private Luxor tour including a tomb visit

If you specifically want to visit Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor, book according to the confirmed admission inclusions. His name in the title is a useful search clue, but not a promise covering every price option. Before paying, I would have it recorded that actual entry to the tomb is part of your chosen booking, rather than merely a possible extra on the day.

The distinction sounds small, but determines whether the place you want is really in the paid programme. A Valley of the Kings excursion, a private sightseeing tour with Tutankhamun in its title and an individual admission ticket are different products. They cannot be compared solely by the lowest amount.

Do not confuse the tomb with an exhibition

The Egyptian antiquities authority identifies Tutankhamun’s tomb as KV62. Use that designation in your enquiry. It names the precise place and avoids the vague question of whether “Tutankhamun is included”.

Consider what you expect beforehand: a visit to the tomb or an exhibition of objects discovered there. A guided visit to KV62 does not promise a museum exhibition. If you want to see particular objects, research their current display location separately; a Luxor tour title does not establish it.

I would also check this expectation with your companions. Someone wanting a tomb visit and someone expecting a large collection can read the same product name and imagine completely different excursions.

A specific candidate starting in Luxor

Our inventory dated 11 September 2026 lists tour 663808 as a private full-day visit to the West and East Banks with Tutankhamun’s tomb. It gives 8 hours, a starting price of €68.77 per person and 239 reviews with a 4.8 rating. The saved description mentions the tomb visit and return hotel transfers.

That makes it a sensible candidate for a targeted enquiry. However, the short export does not contain a complete breakdown of admission tickets for each option. I therefore do not treat €68.77 as a verified total including all the tickets you want.

For two people, the starting prices add up to €137.54. Check the final amount for your date and party size among the private Luxor tours. Also, “private” does not automatically describe a private time slot inside the tomb; ask how the visit is actually organised.

Separate four elements of the service

For the booking decision, I would look separately at transport, guiding, access to the tomb area and entry to the particular tomb you want. This is not a statement about how many tickets you must buy. It is a checking method to avoid silently assuming that something is included.

First ask which journeys are covered and whether your hotel is on the relevant bank. Then ask which language the guide uses and how the tomb visit is explained. Finally, establish which admissions are already paid within your selected price and what additional amounts would be due.

Ask for extra charges with their currency and charging basis. A per-person price is different from an amount for the whole group. If the reply merely says “tickets extra”, you still need those charges assigned to the tomb you want before you can compare.

What your enquiry should say

A short, specific message is enough: “We are staying at this hotel in Luxor and want to enter KV62 on this date. Is admission paid within our selected option? Which other admissions and transfers are included, and what do we pay additionally?”

Add the number of travellers and your preferred guiding language. You do not need to send a long wishlist itinerary if the tomb visit is your main concern. A clear priority helps the operator identify a suitable option or explain openly that the tour does not cover your request.

Keep the reply with your booking confirmation. If the option changes before payment, check the admission inclusions again. Information about a different package does not describe the basket you actually pay for.

When a full-day tour is too much

Eight hours can make sense if you want to discover both banks as well as the tomb. If you have already visited Karnak and Luxor Temple, I would not automatically book the same stops again. First ask for a suitable shorter selection or check the West Bank tours.

The cheaper tour 454032 covering the royal tombs and Hatshepsut is listed at 5 hours, starting at €19.77. Its title does not confirm Tutankhamun. It is therefore not an equivalent substitute for your specific wish until admission to that tomb has been clarified.

The two-valley tour does not answer the question through its wider geographical scope either. More places named do not replace an explicit commitment concerning KV62. Pay for an appropriately confirmed programme rather than a larger excursion that leaves your main reason unresolved.

If the desired visit is unavailable

Ask beforehand how the operator handles a change in the possibility of visiting. Is there a substitute visit, a revised route or particular cancellation conditions for the booked option? I would not treat any of these as automatically promised.

If you would not want the entire tour without KV62, say so explicitly before paying. You can then judge the offered conditions against that requirement. Finally, check the departure point: a Luxor excursion from Hurghada remains a departure from Hurghada, even with Tutankhamun in its title. For your stay in Luxor, the confirmed local pickup must fit.
